The Founders

Shibanee & Kamal Sagar

Kamal, an architect with a deep passion for music, founded Total Environment in 1996 with a simple conviction: thoughtful design can transform the everyday into something extraordinary. With just 10,000 rupees ($120), he and Shibanee set out to create living spaces where architecture, nature, and human needs come together - homes that nourish the mind, body, and spirit.

Shibanee brings warmth and character to every space she designs, using innovative techniques and an eye for the little details that make the big difference. Together, they've built a company that owns every stage of the process - from design and construction to furniture and property management - because they learned early on that the only way to build homes without compromise is to never hand over control of the things that matter most.

We design buildings that respond to their place. Every proportion, every material, every detail is chosen because it makes sense - structurally, climatically, and for how you'll live in it.

Nature

A home without connection to the landscape is only half built. We integrate gardens, courtyards, and natural light into the very core of each design, making nature inseparable from daily life.

We believe in the skill of human hands. From hand-laid brick to custom furniture, our homes are made by artisans who care about their work. This is what gives a space soul.

Total Environment Machine Craft

Every Tapestry home contains bespoke furniture, fixtures, and fittings that are designed and built entirely in-house at our very own manufacturing facility - Total Environment Machinecraft. This is not a compromise - it's how we ensure that every detail, from door handles to custom joinery, fits your home perfectly.

Our artisans work with wood, brass, stone, and glass to craft pieces that will age beautifully alongside you. There is no standard. There is only what works for your home.
